What is HorseStat?

HorseStat is a data-driven race analysis platform. It gives you a professional-grade view of every race — without spending hours digging through multiple sites.

  • Form, class, and pace data for every runner
  • Trainer and jockey stats with A/E performance tracking
  • Suitability indicators that flag course, distance, and pace fit at a glance
  • Our proprietary HorseStat Rating — a single score built from 22 data angles
  • Breeding stats for deeper pedigree analysis

Everything is built around the racecard: clean, visual, and designed to let you compare runners side-by-side in seconds.

Understanding the Racecard

The Racecard is the central view in HorseStat. Every row is a horse — every column tells you something different about their profile.

The race header shows the conditions: course, surface, distance, class, and prize money. These determine which type of horse is most likely to suit before you even look at a runner.

  • Form — recent finishing positions, most recent on the right. 385-72 = 3rd → 8th → 5th → break → 7th → 2nd
  • Win % — career strike rate
  • PRB — Percentage of Rivals Beaten (0–100%). A fairer performance measure than wins alone
  • OR — Official Rating. Higher = stronger horse. Determines weight carried in handicaps
  • VS — gap between current OR and last winning OR. Green = running below last winning mark
  • HI-OR — career peak rating. Useful for spotting horses running below their best
  • Class — moving up or down in class from last time

The four suitability indicators give you an instant read on race fit:

  • FS (Form Suitability) — has the horse's last race produced subsequent winners?
  • DS (Distance Suitability) — is today's distance one the horse performs well over?
  • CS (Class Suitability) — how does the horse's PRB look at today's class level?
  • PS (Pace Suitability) — does the horse's running style suit the pace bias at this track?

The HorseStat Rating (HSR) ties it all together — one number summarising the horse's full statistical profile for this race. Higher is stronger.

How to Analyse a Race

Follow these five steps every time you open a race:

  1. 1Read the conditions — distance, class, and surface tell you what type of horse will suit before you look at a single runner.
  2. 2Scan the suitability indicators (FS, DS, CS, PS) — horses with multiple green ticks are immediately worth your attention.
  3. 3Check HorseStat Rating and PRB — high ratings flag the strongest statistical profiles; high PRB shows consistent performance even without winning.
  4. 4Look at trainer and jockey A/E below the racecard — A/E above 1.0 means they're winning more races than the market expects.
  5. 5Review the Class column — horses dropping in class often outperform their odds; those stepping up may find it tougher than recent form suggests.

You don't need every signal to align. Two or three strong reasons is usually enough.
